I was arrested in 1978 for allegedly shooting numerous cops and murdering one along with my nine brothers and sisters of Move. We've been held since then and have done many, many years in the hole dungeons of this state because we refuse to relinquish, turn traitor to our belief, to John Africa's teachings.
The whole world witnessed the outright blatant murder of my family on May 13, 1985, when the government of Philadelphia, its police department, and the federal government dropped a bomb on my eleven brothers and sisters including five children. My family was burnt and shot to death. Ramona Africa was charged with "rioting" and "resisting arrest" for surviving and was in prison seven years! This blatant murder is well documented and known.
Despite the loss, the grief and hardship, we remain steadfast in our belief and dedication to John Africa. Because of this, this system believes they will keep us here until we are dead (30 to 100 years). ... Our release will be the result of the hard work of our family, supporters and friends - folks like yourselves who have always lent support for years to us and other political prisoners and prisoners of war.
We urge all to support Mumia in any way they can!
On the Move!-- Charles Africa
