The State of Pennsylvania is threatening Mumia's Right to Speak

Prison Radio Has Launched a Campaign to Defend First Amendment Rights, and You Can Help.

Last week PA Governor Tom Corbett signed SB508 into law, effective immediately, which allows the State Attorney General or District Attorney to file a court injunction and prevent prisoners from speaking publicly. This bill specifically targets Mumia Abu-Jamal.

We have launched the Prison Radio Defense Fund to protect the First Amendment rights of prisoners, the formerly incarcerated, journalists, and the public. Prison Radio & Mumia Abu-Jamal, represented by the Abolitionist Law Center and the Amistad Law Project, have filed a federal lawsuit to protect prisoners' right to speak and our right to hear them.

In order to prepare for this legal battle and continue to air prisoners, we need to raise funds. We have launched a $45K Indiegogo Campaign, and there are many ways you can join us to protect prisoners' right to speak.

4 Ways to Join the Prison Radio Defense Fund:

1. Contribute  bit.ly/defendfreespeech

We will win if every supporter supports this campaign. Your donation will:

• Make the legal battle to overturn SB508 possible.

• Fund Prison Radio's work recording and broadcasting Mumia Abu-Jamal and other prisoners.

• Protect the First Amendment right to free speech.

• Be matched dollar-for-dollar. The Redwood Justice Fund has pledged to match contributions up to $45,000 until the end of the year!

2. Amplify

You don't have to stop once you contribute; help spread the word! Please share this campaign on your social media networks, email it to friends, and talk about it in person. We can't thank you enough.

3. Sustain

We also accept gifts of stock and legacy gifts. Please call us at (415) 706 - 5222and we will help you make arrangements. Prison Radio is a project of the Redwood Justice Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, EIN 68-0334309.

4. Organize

Broadcasting Mumia Abu-Jamal and other prisoners' voices is the best antidote to this Right Wing attack on the First Amendment.

We will win this lawsuit.

We will continue to record Mumia.

We can uphold all prisoners' rights to speak their truth.

We can not do it alone, but with your help we will do it together.
