Solitary Confinement: Is it Torture?

Please join us Monday, July 16 from 7 - 8:30 pm as we explore this issue as it pertains to California and the world.
 
In July 2011, over 6600 prisoners went on hunger strike to protest the conditions and policies surrounding the use of solitary confinement in California’s state prisons. Legal Services for Prisoners with Children and the Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity Coalition invite you to a discussion with folks ewho are engaged with this issue on multiple fronts.
 
Marjorie Cohn is a Professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law and past president of the National Lawyers Guild.

Marie Levin is a member of the Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity Coalition and sister of Sitawa Nantambu Jamaa, a plaintiff in the class action suit against solitary confinement at Pelican Bay State Prison.

Sarah Shourd is a writer and international solidarity activist who was held in solitary confinement in Iran for 410 days.  

Manuel La Fontaine is a staff organizer for Legal Services for Prisoners with Children/All of Us or None.
