Law student clinic providing legal representation to survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and trafficking - with a particular focus on survivors serving life or long sentences, and those charged or imprisoned after killing an abuser in self-defense of for having committed crimes under an abuser's coercion or duress. Leveraging decades of experience on the frontlines of power, we shift government and society towards a future where we are no less than equal. We have resources and experts on the Prison Rape Elimination Act and trans people interacting with police and the carceral system and Will send resources nationwide.

Asheville Prison Books

Sends free reading material to folks incarcerated in North Carolina and South Carolina, including county jails, detention centers, state prisons, and federal facilities.  They do not have a catalogue, but try to match requests to books as best they can. Serves people in North Carolina and South Carolina only.

Level

Level is an independent, nonprofit correspondence prison education program serving people in over 1,000 county, state, federal, and military jails and prisons in all 50 states. Topics include entrepreneurship, financial literacy, computer science, internet technology, food safety, meditation and art. We charge a one-time $25 fee for printing and shipping all our materials. People who complete our modules earn certificates and their supporters on the outside receive updates about their progress. Illinois Innocence Project

Reviews cases where the applicant claims to be actually innocent of the crime(s) for which he or she is convicted. Must be substantial new evidence to support a claim of innocence, such as DNA evidence. Must have at least 8 years left on your sentence and not already represented. Cannot take on all applicants. Expect delays, especially during summer. Serves Illinois only.

National Hepatitis Corrections Network

The NHCN serves as a hub of resources and information about hepatitis C in prisons and jails, including publishing resources about Hep C treatment in prison and producing educational materials for incarcerated people about hepatitis. The NHCN is a program of the Hepatitis Education Project (HEP), a nonprofit organization based in Seattle, WA. Serves people nationally.

Hope Prison Ministry South Dakota

Hope Prison Ministry assists men and women leaving prisons in South Dakota with clothing, housing, transportation, and food to support them in making a new start and re-establishing themselves in society. Offers fellowship and friendship beyond the walls. Serves South Dakota only.
